Have you ever wanted to try game shooting but are unsure of where to start? Or would you just like to ensure that when you attend you are doing the right thing?
We can help!
Join us on the 3rd May at Nocton, Lincolnshire where we will teach you all about what to expect on a day’s game shooting.
We will cover:
- Best practice
- Quarry recognition,
- How to dress, how not to dress! Is tweed really necessary?
- Gun safety, how to hold your gun, loading your gun,
- What bird is yours?
- How to tip at the end of a good day.
- How to select the right cartridge and choke for the intended species? Do you need to change chokes between drives.
- The use of gundogs, what breed? What is best…
- What do beaters do? What about the gamekeeper?
We will then check the guns for sustainable ammunition to see what suits you and your gun best.
We will then stop for a lunch break.
The group will then be split into two, where there will be simulated game shooting with broken clays counted.
We will then come back to the room, to clean our guns and undertake a Q and A session.
We will then finish with a light-hearted quiz, hand out goody bags before departing.
You will now be ready for any game shooting situation.
Please ensure that you bring ear and eye protection, and a packed lunch. Attendees are welcome to bring their own shotguns, please ensure you also bring your shotgun certificate. Guns must be suitable for steel shot, choked half or less, with a chamber length of 65mm or longer.
