Take your woodpigeon shooting to the next level.
Join us for a full day of expert instruction, practical demonstrations and hands-on experience designed to help you become a more effective woodpigeon decoyer and shooter.
Learn the techniques, fieldcraft and legal requirements that underpin successful woodpigeon control, including decoying, reconnaissance, hide construction and roost shooting.
Delivered by experienced instructors, this informative and enjoyable day will give you the knowledge and confidence to improve your success in the field.
The day will include a combination of classroom-based learning and practical sessions.
Morning Session
Topics covered will include:
- The purpose and principles of woodpigeon decoying
- Current legislation and legal considerations
- Quarry identification
- Range judging
- Hide construction and positioning
- Decoy patterns and deployment
You will then have the opportunity to put these lessons into practice by shooting simulated woodpigeon clay targets from a hide.
Afternoon Session
Following lunch, we will cover:
- Reconnaissance and fieldcraft
- Understanding feeding patterns and crop preferences
- Roost shooting techniques
- Legal requirements surrounding roost shooting
- The most effective methods for success in the field
The day concludes with a demonstration on preparing woodpigeon for the table, followed by a cooking and tasting session.
Whether you are completely new to woodpigeon shooting or looking to improve your existing skills, this course offers a fantastic opportunity to build confidence and knowledge in a friendly environment.

What to Bring
All decoying equipment will be provided. Please bring your packed lunch, suitable outdoor clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather condition. Ear and eye protection and shotgun certificate.
Please ensure your gun is:
- 12, 20 or 28 bore
- Choked half or less
- Suitable for steel shot
