BASC North are delighted to announce a Deer Management Best Practise Day at Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire on Saturday 29th November.
Swinton Estate is approx. 20,000 acres set in the beautiful North Yorkshire Countryside. The estate has its own Fallow heard, an abundance of wild roe deer and boasts a brand new larder facility. This event aimed at the novice deer stalkers who may or may not have completed a DSC1 course and are looking for some more practical training. The day will cover the 4 key area’s: 1) Best Practise talk / discussion / training / what next for you? 2) Carcass inspection & Gralloch – A practical session where candidates will be shown how to complete an external carcass inspection and Gralloch to DSC2 standard 3) Carcass Butchery – A practical session where candidates will be shown how to skin and butcher a carcass (candidates will take some venison home with them) 4) Simulated Stalk – A practical session where candidates will go out on a supervised stalk and shoot a number of deer targets at different ranges Staff and DSC2 qualified volunteers will also be on hand all day to support any questions you may have Those attending will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear for both indoor and outdoor conditions. If candidates have their own Deer legal Rifle, valid FAC and Ammo they can bring them for the simulated stalk. HIKMICRO will also be attending the day to demo some of their latest products including thermal scopes, bino’s and spotters.
