BASC North are delighted to announce another Deer Management Best Practise Day at Swinton Park Estate in North Yorkshire on Saturday 21st March.
Swinton Estate is approx. 20,000 acres set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The estate has its own fallow heard, an abundance of wild roe deer and boasts a brand new larder facility.
This event aimed at the novice deer stalkers who may or may not have completed a Pre DSC or DSC1 and are looking for some more practical training.
The day will cover the 4 key area’s:
- Best practise talk / discussion / training / what next for you?
- Carcass inspection & Gralloch – A practical session where candidates will be shown first hand how to complete an external carcass inspection and gralloch to DSC2 standard.
- Carcass butchery – A practical session where candidates will be shown how to skin and carry out a basic butcher on a carcass. Candidates will take some venison home with them.
- Simulated stalk – A practical session where candidates will go out on a supervised stalk and shoot a number of deer targets at different ranges.
All staff and volunteers are DSC2 qualified and will be on hand all day to help and support with any questions you may have.
Candidates are to bring suitable clothing and footwear for both indoor and outdoor conditions. If candidates have their own deer legal rifle, valid FAC and ammo they can bring them for the simulated stalk.
HIKMICRO will also be attending the day to demo some of their latest products including thermal scopes, bino’s and spotters.

Cost for the day is £145.00 per person, which includes tea, coffee & pastries on arrival and a venison burger and drinks for lunch.
