Join us for a picking-up themed training workshop open to all breeds of dog aged over 18 months, who have some basic training in place already (sit, retrieve to hand, recall, familiar with the sound of gunshot). Training will take place outdoors in a relaxed and friendly environment near Wrexham.
The session will start with some basic training recaps before focusing on steadiness and simple retrieving scenarios for the rest of the morning – this could be basic retrieves, with added distractions, working with another dog, distance retrieving and water-based retrieving. The day is designed to help prepare handlers and dogs for being in the field and should provide you with advice and guidance for improvement when back at home in your normal training environment. At the end of the event there will be a Q&A session between everyone present.
The workshop will be delivered by Country Officer Meurig Rees, who has trained gundogs for several years and has a track record of producing competent gundogs for working tests and who are steady in the field. You may have seen Meurig carrying out gundog displays at country shows in Wales including the Royal Welsh Show, Pembrokeshire County Show and Brecon show.
Please bring refreshments for yourself as we will stop for a mid-morning break. A BASC goodie bag will be provided to all participants from our sponsors Skinners and Sporting Saints.
