Join DBC leisure and BASC for an introduction to game shooting.
The day is designed to give you a good understanding to what goes on behind the scenes of a game shoot, how to shoot driven birds, shooting etiquette and an opportunity to ask questions. The day will be made up of a mixture of shooting instruction and theory designed to get you ready for the season ahead.

This is a clay based day

Plan for the day: 

10:00 Arrivals and introductions. Split into two groups.
10:30 Group One Theory Session: 

  • Introduction to gamekeeping and the keeper’s year
  • The running’s of a shoot day (keeper, beater, gun, picker up etc.)
  • Etiquette/what’s expected from the gun (tipping etc.)
  • Quarry identification
  • Game meat and hot topics in shooting world

Group Two Outdoor Shooting Instruction:

  • Gun safety on a shoot day
  • What to do on the peg
  • Range judging
  • Dos and don’ts when shooting driven game
  • Shooting a range of driven targets
12:30/13:30 Lunch
13:30 Groups rotate (group one shooting as above, group two theory as above)
15:30 Return to the lodge for final questions and presentation

The all-inclusive price of £120 per person includes clay cartridges.

We are asking participants to bring a packed lunch but drinks will be available.
