The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is calling for volunteers in Northern Ireland (NI) to assist with a breeding woodcock survey.
BASC is funding the NI survey, to further boost an understanding of the species population health at a local level. The data collected from the NI survey, will then feed into the national woodcock survey run by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).
BASC is working with closely with project lead Michael Stinson, of Erne Environmental, who will be running a series of training sessions for volunteers involved with the survey.
The sessions will include a presentation on local breeding woodcock, the survey methodology, and the allocation of survey sites.
Refreshments will be provided.
All welcome – no previous experience required.
