Do you shoot wildfowl?
We would like to invite you to a brand-new free event for 2024!
As part of BASC’s Wing Week we are running a wildfowling workshop and “mini conference” on Monday 26th February 18:30 to 21:00 at Gower Golf Club, Swansea.
The agenda includes a briefing on BASC’s citizen science projects, advice on wing ID and analysis, and a practical workshop session. You can bring wings on the day or send them to BASC’s Head office if you’re unable to attend.
Our guest speakers for the evening are:
- Kane Brides from WWT
- Chris Wright, Wildfowler Advisor at BASC
- Heather Warrender and Sophie Stafford, both Science Advisors at BASC
Between now and then, please keep your wildfowl and woodcock wings and bring them to the event in a Ziplock bag where we will collect them as part of BASC’s scientific monitoring project. The wings of duck, geese and waders are a valuable source of information about population dynamics both in the UK and along the international flyways.
We are especially in need of wild inland duck, goose, and woodcock wings.
Free event– to book your place at this event, please contact wales@basc.org.uk or call 01244 573029. If you cannot attend and want to send samples of wings, go to your wing survey webpage to find out how.
Tea and coffee provided free of charge at this event. The Gower Golf Club does have a bar and are available to serve food should you require anything to eat.
We hope to see you there!
