BASC in partnership with The Forestry Commission , invites you to join us for an informative farm walk at Moor Wood Farm. The event will focus on best practice in game management through effective woodland management and woodland creation.

Discover how woodland creation and management can enhance shoot performance, improve habitat for game and wildlife, and how managing deer pressure is essential to ensuring woodland health and regeneration.

We’ll hear from:

  • Alex Robinson (Host and FC Woodland Ambassador) on woodland creation and management at Moor Wood Farm alongside game management and his involvement with the Central Cotswold Hills Deer Management Group.
  • Sam Walker (Regional Officer at BASC) on how woodland can be managed alongside shooting, highlighting practical steps shoots can take to improve both their woodlands and overall shoot performance.
  • Emma Clitherow (Land Use Advisor for the Forestry Commission) on woodland creation and design specifically tailored to gamebird management.
  • Chris Mason (Deer Officer for the Forestry Commission) on best practices in deer and squirrel management.
  • Polly Harries (Land Use Advisor for the Forestry Commission) on grants and incentives available for woodland creation and management.

During the farm walk we’ll be visiting existing woodlands to discuss woodland management, visit a deer enclosure plot to demonstrate the impact of deer browsing and some of the shoot drives.

Please being suitable footwear and clothing for the farm walk. Refreshments will be provided.
