BASC North will be running a 2 day Introduction to Game and Wildlife Management event in Cumbria.

The event is aimed at BASC Young Shots who would like to learn more about managing the countryside for shooting and conservation, and for those looking at gamekeeping and wildlife management as a future career.

This is a hands-on practical event with help and guidance from professionals within the industry.

Topics covered including:

  • Gamebird rearing and release
  • Woodland and cover crops
  • Uplands management
  • Deer management
  • Traps and trapping
  • Game handling and hygiene
  • Day/night pest and predator control

Attendees will be required to stay over due to the activities planned. Basic amenities will be provided including toilets and showers.

BASC Young Shot members only

Minimum Age: 14 Years

Maximum Age: 17 Years

Cost: £50 pp. includes meals, but not snacks.

Attendees will need to bring:

  • Tent
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Pillow
  • Towel and toiletries
  • Suitable footwear
  • Clothing for 2 days and for expected weather conditions
  • Own ear and eye protection
  • Snacks and drinks.
