BASC North will be hosting a Young Shots Introduction to Game Shooting Day in Cumbria on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.

This is a fantastic opportunity for BASC Young Shot members with previous shooting experience to join our team of guns for a day’s driven game shooting.

A number of places are also available for anyone who would like to experience and learn more about beating, and how a day’s game shooting is delivered.

Young Shots team of guns;

Guided by mentors throughout the day, Young Shots will learn about the codes of best practice, shoot day etiquette, safety in the field, quarry identification and how to prepare game for table.

Intended quarry for the day will be pheasants with the possible opportunity of ducks.

The shoot has used alternatives to lead shot for several seasons, so as well as bringing your own shotgun, you will also need to bring with you 2 boxes of lead-free cartridges that are compatible for use with your own gun. Alternative guns can be arranged with prior notice.

Youngs Shots will be required to wear comfortable shooting attire, ear protection and suitable clothing and footwear for the expected weather.

Minimum age 10

Maximum age 18

£90 per BASC Young Shot members.

Would you like to try your hand at beating?

We also have several places available to join the experienced beating team on the day, who will be able to provide more information around game shooting, and show the different techniques that are used to present a drive.

To take part, you will need to bring warm and waterproof clothing for the expected weather, and waterproof walking boots or wellies.

All other equipment will be provided.

Open to all ages 10+ but must be physically able.

Shoot day elevenses will be served during the day for everyone attending.

Beating is free of charge.
