BASC North would like to invite Young Shot’s to join us for an Introduction to Shotgun Shooting on Saturday 1st June 2024.
The event is aimed at those with some previous experience, but we would also welcome anyone who is new to shotgun shooting to join us on the day.
With guidance from our BASC staff and coaches, we will provide more information on a range of subjects covering several shooting disciplines including:
- Safety and the law
- Types of shotguns
- Ammunition types and their uses
- Safe shotgun handling
- Eye dominance
- Gun fit
- Chokes and pattern plate testing
- Distance judging
- Etiquette
- Shooting positions
- Gun cleaning and maintenance
Young Shots will also have the opportunity to shoot at a number of targets with tuition from our shotgun coaches.
Lunch is included for all Young Shots attending and can be purchased separately by any accompanying adults.
Young Shots are welcome to bring their own shotgun and PPE if they have them, along with the corresponding Shotgun Certificate. Shotguns, ear and eye protection can be borrowed if not owned. Please let us know in advance if you require any of these items.
They will also need suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor conditions, and any additional snacks and drinks they may require during the day.
Cost: BASC members £30.00 per person, non BASC members £40.00 per person.

Please note parents/ guardians are required to accompany their children on the day.
