Young Shots – Introduction to Woodpigeon Roost Shooting

BASC and the Leicestershire Wildfowling Association have joined forces to offer youngsters the chance to learn about Woodpigeon damage and control on this unique day at Buckminster Estate.
The day will involve a session with BASC Shotgun Coaches on gun safety in the field, learning how to prepare and cook pigeon and an evening’s woodpigeon roost shooting under the supervision of mentors from the Leicestershire Wildfowlers Association in the vast woodland on the estate.

09:30 – 10:00 Registration (Buckminster Barn)
10:00 – 10:15 Introductions
10:15 – 11:00 Gun Fit and Gun Safety
11:00 – 11:15 Break
11:15 – 12:00 Wood Pigeon Control & Damage
12:00 – 12:45 Lunch (provided)
12:45 – 13:45 Pigeon Preparation, cookery & tasting
13:45 – 14:00 Break
14:00 – 16:30 Roost Shooting
16:30 Onwards Return to Barn.
17:00 Collection by parents
A hot Lunch and warm drinks will be supplied throughout the day

Cost: Free of charge
*Please note all Young Shots must bring their own shotgun that fits them and they are used to shooting with.
BASC members and non members welcome but they must have a Shotgun certificate.
