Try Sustainable Ammo @ The Game Fair 2021

In February 2020, BASC and eight other organisations announced they want an end to the use of lead shot and single-use plastics in shotgun ammunition for the purpose of live quarry shooting by 2025.

The three core reasons for this transition are:

– To ensure a market for the healthiest of game products.

– To help prevent other wildlife ingesting lead shot.

– To stop throwing plastic into our environment.

BASC would like to invite you to come and try a selection of standard steel cartridges on clays.

This is intended to be an informal experience to give people the opportunity to try the ammunition under qualified supervision and to dispel some of the myths regarding steel shot under the guidance of a BASC coach.

BASC will have shotguns available to use on the stand or If you would like to bring your own 12 gauge gun, however we are recommending your guns to be choked at cylinder, quarter, or half to optimise performance. If you are in any doubt about whether your gun is capable of safely firing steel, we suggest that you consult a gunsmith before attending.

Standard Steel ammunition can be used in any Nitro proofed shotgun (other than Damascus/twist barrelled guns) if it is currently in proof having a BNP or NP mark on it and the gun is in good working order.

The cartridge loads are for shotguns with a chamber length of 70mm. Please ensure these are compatible with your gun.

The session will cost you £5 and you will get 15 shots using a selection of steel cartridges with biodegradable wads. The session will last approximately 30 minutes so please ensure you arrive promptly at your start time.
