Join us for a training workshop open to all breeds of gundog and their crosses who have some basic training in place already (sit, retrieve, recall, familiar with the sound of gunshot). Training will take place outdoors in a relaxed and friendly environment with an expert trainer with access to some fantastic facilities.

The morning session (10am-12pm) will be an introduction to the beating line: how it works, what to do with your dog and a guide on terminology. This will be a practical session focussing on hunting and a guide on how to introduce your dog to live game. Maximum one dog per handler for the morning session.

The afternoon session (1pm-3pm) will be an introduction to picking up, including how to safely dispatch game and a guide to good game handling. This is a practical session focussing on steadiness, retrieving, sweeping up and good handling skills. Handlers may bring more than one dog to the afternoon session.

The workshop will be delivered by Regional Officer Fliss Winters, who has professionally trained gundogs for a number of years and has a track record in winning awards at field trials and working tests with her dogs across the South East. She and her dogs regularly pick up on a variety of shoots.

Cost (per session) £25.00 for BASC Members, £35.00 non-members.
