Join BASC Wales on their retriever training day to ensure that you and your dog are ready for the forthcoming season.
The event welcomes young dogs and/or handlers participating in their first ever shooting season and those who have some working experience and would like some advanced tips on how to improve their dog’s performance in the shooting fields to successfully retrieve shot game and wildfowl.
Dogs and their handlers will experience various scenarios including woodlands and fields with short to mid cover to long rushy wet areas and water with seen and blind retrieves and some with gunshot.
All retrieves will be on dummies based around 4/5 simulated drives with a minimum of 2 dummies per dog per drive and dogs need to be a minimum of 14 months old.
Availability will be limited to a maximum of 7 places, so we advise that you book early.
** Please note that the event is held in a green field site with no toilet facilities.
- Please wear suitable clothing, and sturdy footwear will be required to suit the weather and rough terrain including sloping fields, woodlands and marshy areas.
- Please bring dog poo bags and a walking stick to help in walking, and a training vest/bag if you wish.
- Participants will need to bring their own packed lunch and refreshments.
- Packed lunch advisable.
- Exact travel directions will be sent via during the lead up to the event.
