Fancy a pre-Glorious 12th warm up to get your eye in for the season? BASC’s Wiltshire Social Committee’s annual grouse-themed clay shoot is being held on Friday 5th August at Barbury Shooting School near Swindon. Stands include driven grouse, crossing blackcock and bounding mountain hare.

There are prizes for High Gun and Top Lady plus a special prize for Top Junior (under 18) – a day on a 100-bird pheasant shoot near Pewsey.

Advance booking is essential and the price includes a quarter pound pheasant burger and a drink.

There is also a 70-bird flush for teams of four guns (at a cost of £10 per person payable on the evening).
