Join us at the Three Salmons Hotel to learn more about our exciting conservation project – Woodland Resilience: deer and grey squirrel management and hear updates about the work being carried out in the Wye Valley.
Funded by Natural Resources Wales (NRW), the project will focus on six areas across Wales covering 200,000 hectares in total. Through it, BASC will work with various partners and stakeholders to monitor and measure the impact that deer and grey squirrels are having on woodlands. This will assist NRW and the Welsh Government to plan how to manage these species.
Following an introduction to the project by woodland resilience officer Hamish Profit, presentations will be given by guest speakers including author and deer expert John Thornley  OBE who will provide a presentation on managing fallow deer and David Harris (APHA vet) and John Morris (Welsh Government animal health officer) will give an update on TB in deer in Wales and common diseases in working dogs. BASC country officer Meurig Rees and Hamish Profit will discuss grey squirrel control.
This will be followed by a question and answer session.
